Founder & CEO, Holistic Sex, Individuals, Marriage and Couples Therapist

Dr. Kres Snyder serves a broad spectrum of clients with experience in diverse populations. She recognizes that all humans are social and relational beings, and always in pursuit of the best version of themselves. She specializes in individual and couples with a focus sex therapy, alternative lifestyle counseling, and creating healthy relationship patterns and behaviors.

She is the founder of Minds Empowered Counseling located in Chicago, IL, Tinley Park, IL and and Phoenix, AZ.  She spearheads the practice with over 16 years of experience with LGBTQIA concerns, communication struggles, intimacy issues, betrayal and abandonment,  and marital and couple issues.  She oversees therapists from all walks of life and ensures that BIPOC have access to not just access to services but the best quality of services.  She brings a warm, honest, and open approach to therapy while helping a client feel hope about their situation.

Kres believes mental health is directly tied to the quality of our relationships and sex life. Driven by her desire to smash stigmas about mental health and sexuality, Kres built a platform on social media and amongst peers that connects people seeking therapy for sexual issues, but also provides a safe, inclusive space for people to get access to education about sensitive topics that people live with every day. As an experienced kink-aware therapist, she works with an open mind on the issues you identify. She welcomes clients of all sexual and erotic preferences, practices, and identities. Her work in kink recognizes and respects the use of unconventional sexual practices, concepts, or fantasies and the interplay in peoples lives and thoughts.  However, integrating the nuances of kink, fetishes, and power exchange into a loving, intimate relationship can be a challenge for some couples. The mixture of clinical training, Gottman principles, and personal experience allows Kres to fully support those with these issues and other sexual related issues.

Dr. Snyder completed her master's and doctoral work at Argosy University with a focus on clinical psychology. She has previous experience as a long time Clinical Director in a residential Group Home, Supervision in Foster Care, and multiple experiences in Correctional Populations.

Her dissertation looked at readiness to change in Police  Officers who abused alcohol.  She has spent the last 10 years in private practice cultivating a practice in sex therapy and kink awareness.  In her spare time, she is an avid foodie, enjoys dancing, swimming, and spending time with family, including her two daughters and son.

Angela began her journey in the field of domestic violence, child welfare, and then school social work. She later began providing family counseling and intimacy coaching to couples. Angela has always ben fascinated with how  people relate to one another in both platonic as well as romantic relationships. She's particularly enjoyed discovering the root causes of an individual's thought processes, behavioral patterns, and perceptions of themselves.

Angela believes all roads lead to intimacy which is typically formulated during childhood and adolescence. When this area is explored and healed, relationships with ourselves and others can flourish. Angela specializes in helping couples reignite passion, pleasure, and connection in their relationships on a physical, emotional, intellectual, and spiritual level.

Angela believes that the longer you've been in a relationship with someone, the more intentional you have to be in giving and receiving intimacy because the novelty eventually fades. Angela helps couples rediscover that intimacy and experience an even deeper connection with one another than ever before.

Angela received her Bachelor's Degree in Social Work from Illinois State University and her Master's Degree in Social Work from the University of Illinois at Chicago. Angela previously served as a residential coordinator in a domestic violence shelter, a case manager for the Illinois Department of Children and Family Services, a school social worker in every area from suburban to urban schools as well as public, private, and charter schools and has worked with all grade levels from pre-kindergarten to high school.

Angela exudes a natural ability to understand and connect with her clients leading them to feel comfortable with vulnerability and feeling safe.

When she's not servicing clients, Angela enjoys spending quality time with her husband and children, as well as extended family and friends. She also enjoys consistent spa days, reading, writing, swimming, comedy shows, live music, and roller skating.

Individuals, Young Adults, Adolescents, Family

We all experience some form of suffering, challenges and /or distractions that can paralyze us from living authentically. I assist my clients in exploring effective ways of addressing challenges and finding solutions that can be implemented into their everyday lives that suit their specific needs.  I recognize that developing a rapport and creating a safe space for my clients is critical to one’s healing process and I’m dedicated to doing just that. Slowing down and taking the time to look inside can build strength, passion, and bravery. Through this, change in our thoughts and perceptions can help make an impact in our lives to promote positive change. I believe that carefully reassessing our approach and controlling our reaction to situations in our lives can promote deep change.

Christa has worked with some of the most vulnerable and diverse populations in Chicago and has assisted families of various cultural backgrounds. She has experience with evidence-based treatment modalities such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Dialectical Behavior Therapy and Systems Therapy. She finds it helpful to utilize a blended modality approach when needed to best address client needs. She has assisted clients who face challenges including but not limited to depression, anxiety, PTSD, schizophrenia, and post incarceration syndrome. She is great at assisting those who have issues in the area of self-esteem, abandonment, and grief as well as emotional regulation, relationship stability, effective communication and conflict resolution. She empowers exploration, growth, and self-awareness and pursues healing of the mind, body, spirit and soul.

She is a licensed Social Worker. She received her bachelor’s degree in Social Work from Governors State University and continued her education at GSU receiving her master’s degree in Social Work.

My career goal is to acquire my LCSW while continuing to empower others to be their best authentic self. I hope to bring more awareness to the importance of taking care of your mental health and removing the stigma that prevents those in need of support seeking that much needed help. Nothing fulfills me more than watching the evolution of my client’s journey. I believe that each one of us can be fulfilled in our lives and change is possible when you are ready to do the work. I realize choosing a therapist is a very person decision and it is not a one size fits all. If you are ready to explore what is getting in your way and figure out what to do next, then I may be the perfect fit for you.

Tameka is a mother, friend, mentor and has served on parent organization committees, assisted coached little league baseball and tee ball, and has a fun loving and energetic spirit.

Tameka is most appreciated for the encouragement and empowerment bestowed on other people. Her passion for helping developed in childhood as Tameka took notice to the abuse and neglect of people in her environment. Being reared in a loving, supportive environment she decided to be the change. Being the loving, empathetic person she is, she wished she could wrap arms around every child who didn’t have. Knowing that this was impossible Tameka worked on building a foundation where she would be able to wrap her arms around every child who didn’t have by creating a safe environment for people to begin the process of healing. Knowing children either grow to be abusers or the difference Tameka became dedicated to a lifestyle that allows for her to share the motivating factors and intel given to her by her “village”.

Tameka has a focus on domestic violence/intimate partner violence; grief and loss; and other traumatic events that bread stuck points in people who have the potential to be productive citizens. Tameka is open to all populations and has 12 years of experience in developing rapport with adolescents and adults. She implements a unique, eclectic approach that can only be described by clients after their treatment experience.
